Rodman: Naval excellence since 1974
Founded in 1974, Rodman Naval Construction and Industrial in Vigo, Spain, began with the construction of fishing vessels and quickly established itself as a benchmark in the shipbuilding sector.
Interestingly, the name “Rodman” is derived from the first syllables of the name of its founder, Manuel Rodríguez.
With fifty years of experience, the Rodman Group stands out in Spain as the longest-established shipyard in its category.
Originally focused on building fishing vessels, the company has gradually expanded its operations, becoming a leader in the production of recreational and commercial boats, with over 15,000 units manufactured and delivered.
The momentum was gained first with the move to new facilities in Moaña in 1986, and then with the merger with Abada (owning company of Rodman, specialized in the construction of large recreational vessels) in 1992, leading to the formation of Rodman Polyships.
The company has a solid presence with five shipyards between Spain and Portugal, including MetalShips & Docks in Vigo and Rodman Lusitania in Portugal.
Rodman is synonymous with quality, safety, and innovation; it was the first Spanish shipyard to obtain international certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and PECAL (NATO).
Additionally, all Rodman recreational boats come with a commercial warranty of 10 years for structural damage and 5 years for osmosis.

Quality and Innovation: The Foundations of Success
The success of the Rodman Group is closely linked to its production capabilities, highly qualified personnel, and expert teams.
The integration of cutting-edge technologies also ensures results of the highest quality.
The Rodman Quality System (RQS) is an internally developed system designed to ensure rigorous control over the materials used and the production phases, culminating in sea tests to guarantee structural, stability, and safety standards.
Quality and Innovation Over the Years:
– 1974: The establishment of Rodman shipyards for the production of fishing boats, already focused on the constant search for new processes and materials.
– 2000: Rodman becomes a pioneer in the use of vacuum infusion techniques for laminating fiberglass hulls.
– 2003: Official introduction of the vacuum infusion technique with the Rodman 870 model, addressing the growing complexity in the production of increasingly intricate large components.
– 2010: Laminating large surfaces, hulls, decks, and superstructures in both recreational and professional sectors, including patrol boats, work vessels, and passenger catamarans up to 35 meters in length.
– 2020: Achieving a significant milestone in infusion techniques with the creation of bridges for patrol boats measuring 42 meters in length.
Today, the shipyard can build vessels of any length; furthermore, Advanced Composites by Rodman offers design, development, and production of any industrial component in composite materials, such as wind turbine components, submarine decks or covers for trains.
The research and development work conducted over the years has allowed Rodman to acquire deep knowledge and optimize production processes, ensuring excellent results.
This is a value-added benefit for the vessels produced by the company.
